DG Award Presented to Kristin Williams

Following two years in the Sinai, Kristin Claire Williams, the spouse of our Force Commander, Major General Evan Williams, returned to New Zealand. Prior to her departure, MFO Director General R. Stephen Beecroft recognized her many contributions to the MFO by presenting her with the Director General’s Award. She will be remembered by her MFO family with great affection.

The award states:

Kristin Claire Williams is recognized for her extraordinary contributions to the morale, spirit, and welfare of the MFO’s Force in Sinai from 1 December 2019 to 21 October 2021. In the face of unprecedented hardship caused by the COVID 19 pandemic and consuming personal challenges, Kristin’s selfless service to others fostered a sincere sense of community among the MFO’s Force in the Sinai. Genuine, compassionate, and unifying, she organized recreational activities on camp, offered support to women, and carried out innumerable acts of kindness to ensure the wellbeing of our military and civilian members. Her stalwart example under COVID restrictions and her building of bonds throughout our community have better enabled the Force to overcome adversity, succeed in its mission, and strengthen peace and cooperation between Egypt and Israel. Kristin’s exceptional commitment to the MFO and dedication to the Force reflect great credit upon her, the MFO, and New Zealand.

The Director General’s Award is the highest honor available to MFO Members and is presented for outstanding service or to those who have, through their actions, demonstrated personal valor, heroism, or dedication, beyond the call of duty.

In addition to Mrs. Williams and the Director General, the presentation was attended by the Force Commander, the Director General’s Representatives in Egypt and Israel, Mr. Lynch and Mr. Goldberger, respectively, a number of MFO Sinai Staff, and Colonel Saffaa, the representative in Sharm el Sheikh from Egypt's Liaison Agency with International Organizations, and a member of his staff. Further, the event was livestreamed to New Zealand where it was watched by Mrs. Williams’ daughters, Kelsi and Monica.
